Privacy Policy

This policy describes the data practices of KOdex, run by the operators of kodex.bot. KOdex is a website for combat-robot ratings and records. It has no user accounts, and the only analytics it runs are self-hosted and cookieless (see below). It carries no advertising and no cross-site tracking tools.

We do not collect personal data beyond what is needed to operate the site. Like most websites, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (for example, IP address, request time, user agent, and the page requested) for security and reliability. We do not use this information to build profiles or to identify individual visitors.

KOdex currently has no sign-up, login, or user-account system, so we do not store names, email addresses, or passwords from visitors.

KOdex sets a few functional cookies, and remembers one or two display choices in your browser's local storage. None of it is used for advertising, analytics, or cross-site tracking, and none of it identifies you.

• kodex-theme remembers the color family you choose (for example, Catppuccin or Nord) so the site renders in your preferred palette on your next visit. It stores only the family name.
• kodex-mode remembers your light or dark mode theme preference. It stores only the value "light" or "dark".
• kodex.notice.* remembers that you closed an announcement or a notice, so the same one does not reappear on every visit. It stores only that you dismissed it. Depending on the notice this is either a cookie or an entry in local storage.

All of these are strictly functional: each one is written only because you did something (picked a theme, closed a notice), each stores only that choice, and none is read by anyone but this site. That is why KOdex does not ask you to accept cookies before you can use it. If we ever add advertising or accounts, we will update this policy and add any consent mechanism that may then be required.

KOdex counts visits using Umami, which we run ourselves on our own infrastructure. Your browsing is not sent to Google Analytics or to any other third-party advertising or analytics company.

It records roughly what a server log would: which pages were viewed, the site that linked you here, and coarse details such as browser, operating system, screen size and country. It does not record your name, your email, or your precise location.

We do not ask you to accept analytics, and this is why: it stores nothing on your device, so there is no cookie and no local storage to consent to, and it keeps no identifier that lasts beyond a single day. Repeat visits are counted with a salted hash that is rotated daily, so there is nothing that can follow you from one day to the next or between sites. It also honours your browser's Do Not Track setting: if you have it switched on, nothing is recorded at all.

The ratings and records shown on KOdex are derived from NHRL-ruleset competition data sourced through an upstream data pipeline. We display publicly available competition results (bot names, results, and ratings) and do not publish driver or team personal details. See the About page for the full data-source disclosure.

You can clear or block the theme cookie in your browser settings; the site will simply fall back to its default theme. For questions about this policy, or to raise a data-related request, contact admin@kodex.bot. Because the underlying competition data is maintained upstream, some requests about source records may need to be directed to the data source; we will help route those where we can. Cleaning the data from the various endpoints has been a challenge, and we cannot promise that ever record is perfectly accurate, so you are invited to contact us first if you have questions about the data or want to report an error, so as not to inundate the very busy NHRL dev team with questions that may not pertain to their source data.
